Hair Topics Vote

Hello everyone!

Over the next few weeks I will be busying myself with adding content to the pages listed on the right  (so far I have completed the first 4- check them out!). However, I want this to be more than a website to go to for information. I would like it to be interactive! So please comment below with any hair care topics you would like me to discuss, any styles you would like me to post video tutorials on, etc. Also, don't forget to become a follower of the page so you will get updates when new content is added!

If you are transitioning, please visit the "Welcome Transitioners," page on the right, and in the comment box introduce yourself and maybe add a current picture of where you are in the process (or a description is fine). Then, continue to check back and update us on your progress ( I will be posting update pictures monthly once I take my braids out). If you are a natural, give us transitioners some tips and insights!

Let's GROW!

P.S. One of my natural friends offered some tips on using steamers to deep condition and detangle. Check it out in the comments section below!!!

  1. Hey lady! I really enjoy your site. I'm currently natural but have been in a weave for forever. Inbetween weaves, I try to treat my hair as best I can and one of the things I can't live without is my hair steamer for deep conditioning and or detangling. It's freaking amazing. Any will do but I use the Huetiful Hair Steamer http://www.behuetiful.com/

If you haven't used something like this already, you should give it a try and see if it works for you. It's also somewhat theraputic lol.Anyway, I plan to take the weave out permanently because I think I'll have more time in the near future to properly care for my natural hair. Trust, I will be frequenting your site to keep me going lol Hope all is well and keep up the good work!

    1. Wow! First off, its awesome that are totally natural. Im jealous...can't wait to get there! And also, thanks for visiting the site! AND thanks for the streamer tip..I have been hearing about steamers, but not from anyone I knew so I was never able to ask questions...so, what is so great about them? How is it different from the standard hooded dryer? What do you use to deep condition when you steam? Finally, would you mind either copiying your comment on the site or can I? I just think it would be great to get that idea on the site because I keep hearing about these steamers!!!

  2. Thanks! It wasn't really a conscious decision to go natural, just kept my hair in a weave until my relaxer eventually grew out. I'm sure there are much better ways to do it lol.

The best thing about steamers is that vapor can open up both scalp and hair folicals allowing the moisture and whatever product you use to really penetrate both for a better clean and condition. Deep conditioning with just water only allows the product to sit on the hair shaft. After using the steamer my hair is EXTREMELY soft and feels very healthy even when directly out of braids or weave. Sadly, I'm not the greatest in the product department. I use Ovantion's Cell Therapy to condition (which probably has too many unnatural ingredients) and whatever oil I can find around the house (usually olive oil) I plan to swap out with some of the suggested products on your site.
